Ginger tea
Delicious, energizing, and protective in cold, grippy weather
When the cold season comes, I like to start my day with something that will give me energy and warm me up at the same time. This tea will protect you from the cold because it strengthens your immune system. To always have ginger ready to use, I like to prepare it ahead. The days I use my juice extractor, I also process a bunch of ginger root. I put the juice in an ice cube tray and pop it in the freezer where it can stay a good six months. That way I always have ginger juice ready for smoothies, teas, soups, and sauces.
Ingredients
- 1/2 squeezed lemon
- 1/2 inch of fresh ginger grated or a cube of frozen juice
- 1 teaspoon of raw honey
- A smidgen of freshly ground turmeric (careful of stains) or 1/2 teaspoon of turmeric powder
Preparation
- Combine ingredients in a small tea pot, add two to three cups of boiling filtered water
- Let it infuse for 10 minutes.
Benefits
Ginger is an antiviral and anti-inflammatory. It is a tonic that stimulates and fortifies the body. It is also an effective remedy for nausea, including motion sickness. It works well with its ally, turmeric, a rhizome as well. It calms stomach cramps, menstrual pains, flatulence, and even arthritis.
